AlohaSmith courses are designed to bridge the huge gap between what we are taught and what we need to know to be successful with relationships, wellness and childbirth in the context of our rapidly changing and diverse society. These courses will provide participants with practical information, tools, skills and exercises that promote self-awareness, loving relationships, a solution-focused mindset and healthier, happier and more fulfilling lives.

My Personal Mission Statements...

To be open, honest and authentic in my relationships and in my work

To design and deliver practical curriculum and services that acknowledge diversity, strengths and wellness.

To foster self-awareness and loving relationships for the sake of our children in our rapidly changing and diverse world.

To continue to learn, grow, improve, seek new information and incorporate new paradigms into my work and way of life.

  1. Relationships and partners that are free from addiction, adultery and abuse are most often "too good to leave."

  2. We chose our partners because we unconsciously knew that we needed to learn what our relationship has to teach us.

  3. Gender inequalities that still exist in the home are, for the most part, not malicious or intentional…just traditions and habits that need to be broken.

  4. We have all undergone family and gender socialization processes and often collude to keep things the same, even though we want things to change.

  5. We all make mistakes and have imperfections, defenses, baggage and gifts.

  6. Conflict and change are inevitable in relationships, and, when managed well, can lead to intimacy.

  7. Clear communication is challenging, even under the best of circumstances.

  8. Making changes in our relationships is a complex process that involves shifting societal norms…it will take a lot of time and energy.

  9. Making any changes in our relationships, even for the better, will most likely be stressful, particularly in the beginning stages.

  10. Since love is a feeling and feelings fluctuate, we need to be intentional about creating an environment where love can flow.

  11. "Staying married and staying humble is a path to spiritual and psychic wellness." -- Iris Krasnow
